SUSTAINABLE & AFFORDABLE HOMES WORKSHOP

  • Description
Are your partner families' homes as affordable and healthy as they could be? Are you taking advantage of incentives to build “green” homes?

The Northwest Sustainable & Affordable Homes Workshop is a 1 1/2 day climate-specific session for Habitat for Humanity construction staff and volunteers. The workshop will cover the process, components and costs of building a sustainable Habitat home (i.e. ENERGY STAR, LEED, NAHB, Builders Challenge, etc.).

The first day is an interactive classroom session focusing on the unique challenges of building in the Northwest and Cold climate zones. The second half-day includes a small group activity and onsite testing of a Habitat house.

The workshop was developed through The Home Depot Foundation sponsored Partners in Sustainable Building Program. It is co-hosted by Habitat for Humanity International and the Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity.
