VI, St. Thomas — Executive Director

Responsibilities:

• Provide overall executive leadership for Habitat for Humanity of the US Virgin Islands (Habitat-VI) in accordance with the direction and policies and objectives set by Habitat-VI’s Board of Directors.

• Manage and coordinate daily operations of the office and field staff.

• Advise, counsel, and assist Habitat-VI in its efforts to provide affordable, decent housing throughout the US Virgin Islands, including general supervision of the construction of Habitat-VI homes.

• Provide leadership for public relations and fund-raising activities including working with the Development Committee to establish comprehensive fund-raising strategies.

• Communicate in energizing vision for Habitat-VI and seek to motivate staff and volunteers with being proactive in the development of a strong volunteer base.

• Develop an annual budget with the Finance Committee for review and approval by the board; authorize expenditures within the budget and advise the board and the Finance Committee of cash flow variances.

• Manage interactions with faith based organizations to create a proactive support network for Habitat-VI.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ managerial experience in financial and administrative management. Experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred.

• Demonstrated skills in fund-raising and/or grant writing.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with the board of directors, staff, volunteers, homeowners and the community.

• A strong commitment to the needs of low-income families and prospective Habitat homeowners.

• Proficient in standard computer software in an office environment.

• Knowledge of construction a plus.
